Hey there!
I hate to admit it, but I can be very lazy.
Whether it be putting the laundry off for another day, or deciding I’ll clean out my closet later- Sometimes I just don’t feel like doing certain things.
Even submitting to castings!
I’d gotten pretty bad about it until about two weeks ago. Anytime a casting came up that I fit the specs for, I would post it in my private Facebook group for my clients for them to submit, but say ‘I’ll submit for it later..”.
As with any procrastinator, later never came, and I stopped booking anything.
That brings me to a few weeks ago when I received at least 6-10 testimonials from different people who had taken my class.
All of them were thanking me for the information I’d taught them that caused them to book MAJOR ads and commercials- most of them gigs that I had posted in the group!
Of course, I’m always happy for my clients, but I started thinking..K’la, you’ve GOT to stop being so lazy and just go ahead and submit for things when you see them.
My first challenge was an email I received from a casting director about a coffee commercial that was looking for talent. I almost closed the email with my typical ‘I’ll do it later’ mentality, but I stopped myself and went ahead and submitted.
I booked the commercial after a few rounds of auditions!
It seems simple, but to me, it was a revelation- You can't book if you don't submit.
I also ended up booking a photoshoot for Milo’s Tea that I shot last week in Birmingham.
The funny thing is, I submitted for it while on set for that first commercial because a fellow actor told me about the casting.
Two bookings within a week because I decided to stop being lazy!
Today’s tip is simple- When you see a project you fit, submit.
I’d love to hear from you- has there been a time you’ve seen a casting and forgot to apply for it?
Talk soon, K'la
